Georgia Innocent Spouse Relief

By requesting “innocent spouse relief,” you can be relieved of responsibility for paying tax, interest, and penalties if your spouse (or former spouse) improperly reported items or omitted items on your tax return. Georgia taxpayers may qualify for both federal and state tax relief. The GA legislature passed innocent spouse legislation in 1999. Generally, a person must have been treated as an innocent spouse under IRS guidelines before relief can be considered for GA purposes. For more details:
