QuickBooks 2012 and Excel

QuickBooks 2012 has made some major improvements in its  integrate with Excel. Now you can create a template report and retain many formatting elements.

This new functionality will allow you to develop Excel templates that can easily be updated directly from QuickBooks.  Another aspect to this new feature is the ability to update your Excel report with new data, without having QuickBooks open. The Excel report will be updated with the most current data.

Intuit seems to have put alot of thought into this new functionality.  There are some glitches, but the work arounds are fairly easy.  We expect future releases to correct most of these first generation problems.  If you are starting with the basic QuickBooks reports and making formatting and minor calculation changes, this will be very helpful. And this is available at no additional charge.

If you want to have greater control over your reports, and perhaps create reports that are not found in QuickBooks already, we  recommend that you consider one of the reporting tools that are available. If you are comfortable with Excel, QQube reporting tool from Clearify is one of  the best way to get your QuickBooks data into Excel.
